Substitutes and Assistant Teachers

Montessori Lead Primary Teacher (Kindergarten and Pre-School)
1. Knowledge of the Montessori philosophy and curriculum.
2. Develop academic curriculum, lessons and learning materials specific to the needs of each child in the classroom.
4. Complete observational evaluations of each child per the schedule set by the school.
7. Maintain and submit current academic and school records, individual and class curriculum and observational evaluations, conference reports and other educational records.
9. Participate in the development and presentation of parent education and orientation programs.
10. Develop and maintain on-going communication with parents in order to develop and maintain a collaborative partnership.
Minimum Skills Required: (1) Knowledge of the Montessori philosophy and curriculum; (2) Develop class curriculum, lessons and learning materials specific to the needs of each child in the classroom; (3) Prepare and maintain the appropriate age level classroom environment with the appropriate educational tools and work for students.

2. Develop academic curriculum, lessons and learning materials specific to the needs of each child in the classroom.
- Curriculum includes math, reading, writing, science and cultural studies
- Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory and is willing to share this knowledge for the continual improvement of the school's curriculum.
- Develops lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and goals.
- Plans individual and group learning activities designed to meet instructional objective and student’s needs.
- Incorporates into planning all diagnostic information available for children in the classroom
4. Complete observational evaluations of each child per the schedule set by the school.
- Informal observations completed daily/weekly for each child
- Formal observations specific to a curriculum area or developmental milestone completed monthly
- Formal observations focused on kindergarten readiness in preparation for 1 st grade
- Review prior academic student records in order to develop a foundation of understanding regarding each student’s educational abilities, learning and needs.
- Assesses student strengths and weaknesses on a frequent basis, provide appropriate activities to address student needs and generate progress reports as required.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records.
- Meet with parents/guardians of students per the scheduled conference time, twice yearly.
7. Maintain and submit current academic and school records, individual and class curriculum and observational evaluations, conference reports and other educational records.
- Utilize the Montessori Records Express (MRX) system
- Maintain student academic files as required by Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)
