Day House (Before and After School Care)

We understand the need for families with dual-working parents to have a safe and trustworthy place for their child to stay, either before or after school.  A bit of fun is also a plus!  Our Day House program is for children currently enrolled at Alcuin.

Day House is offered in several options:
  • Before school care (for ages 3-12) is Monday through Friday, 7:15 to 8:30 a.m.  (Elementary DH begins at 7:30 a.m.)
  • Afternoon Day House (for children ages 3 and 4) is Monday through Friday, 11:30 to 3:00 p.m.
  • Evening Day House (for children ages 3-12) is Monday through Friday, 3:00/3:30 to 6:00 p.m.
While rooted in Montessori philosophy, Day House also incorporates a variety of age-appropriate, non-Montessori materials to balance the longer school day. These include puzzles, art supplies, building toys, imaginative play materials, and games that encourage creativity, collaboration, and joyful exploration. The ground rules include respect for others and the environment, cooperative behavior, independent self-care and polite social interactions. The program maintains a nurturing pace, giving children time to rest, connect socially, and engage in meaningful activities that complement their classroom experiences.
