Summer Camp at Alcuin Montessori School: June 6 - August 12, 2022
Have your children experience "Fun with a Purpose!" this summer at Alcuin Montessori School. Take advantage of an enjoyable summer program that provides the rewards of a Montessori approach to learning with a big helping of summer fun. Whether your child is new to Montessori or a pro, this camp is a great way for them to discover, learn and grow in a safe and fun environment.
All children must bring their own lunch and two masks. Families will be sent final confirmation and paperwork in early May.

Primary, $250
Elementary, $425
Registration:
Once available, download sign-up form and you may either mail it in, or drop it off. A 50% deposit is required with all registrations. Unfortunately, registration forms will not be processed without payment, and spaces will not be held.

Primary Sessions (Ages 3-6)
9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Session 1: June 6th-10th
Continent Animals Rule with Mike Neville
Lions and tigers, and bears! Oh my! Enjoy exploring where your favorite animals are from, what they eat, and how they spend their days. Learning animal crawls, walks and runs are always good exercise too. Come enjoy the wonders of the Animal Kingdom.
Session 2: June 13th-16th (4 days)
Simple Machines Make the World Go Round with Mike Neville
Learn how simple machines can make work and life much easier. From levers, pulleys, to inclined planes the children will experiment with all these and more. Great opportunity to let your imagination run wild as students discover the exciting applications of mechanical engineering!
Session 3: June 20th-24th
Numbers to Infinity and Beyond with Mike Neville
Before we get to infinity, let’s start with one. One group begins to explore with numbers linearly. Then learning to skip count; finding squares and cubes along the way. Finding ways to put together equations, taking measurements, counting days/months/ years, money, and more. Join us to explore the language of numbers.
Session 4: June 27th-30th (4 days)
Having Fun with Dinosaurs with Gloria Dominguez
We will learn about different kinds of dinosaurs and pretend we are paleontologists! If you want to have some dinosaur fun this summer, this camp is for you.
Session 5: July 11th-15th
Creative Summer Play! with Gloria Dominguez
If you like to build and create the games you play, you will love this camp. We'll construct tunnels and play handmade games like scoop ball and whacko bowling.
Session 6: July 18th-22nd
Beginner Bird Watching with Claire Halloran
During this camp week, our brood will learn all about our local birds! We’ll create our own binoculars, birding guides, and discover how we can support bird conservation.
Session 7: July 25th-29th
Exploring the Rainbow with Claire Halloran
We’ll have a bright week exploring the magic and science behind rainbows. We’ll experiment with color theory, learn how to create indoor rainbows, and make lots of colorful creations! Red, orange, yellow, green, blue---let's explore!
Session 8: August 1st-5th
DIY Days with Claire Halloran
Calling all tinkerers, engineers, and artists! This week, we’re going to roll up our sleeves and dive into the world of Do-It-Yourself. We’ll explore how we can up-cycle old household materials to create our own whimsical masterpieces.
Session 9: August 8-12th
Soak up the Summer with Claire Halloran
As camp comes to an end, we’ll spend the last week soaking up the last sweet summer days. We’ll celebrate with lots of water play, outdoor games, scavenger hunts, sunshine, and maybe a Popsicle or two!

The week will be filled with summer adventures! We will go on hikes in the forest preserve, go on scavenger hunts, play balloon games, create obstacle courses, and so much more.
Session 2: June 13th-16th (4 days) FULL
Pokémon/Marvel/DC with Heather Rivera
Calling all superheroes and Pokémon fans! Bring your trading cards and play with friends. Have epic battles! Design and create your own characters and trading cards! You won't want to miss it.
Session 3: June 20th-24th FULL
Camp Puppet with Heather Rivera
Campers will learn how to make puppets and bring them to life. They will also make a stage for their puppet show made from household materials and recyclables. At the end of the week, everyone will get a chance to put on their performance.
Session 4: June 27th-30th (4 days) FULL
Birds, Butterflies, Bats & Beetles! with Sophia Lyman
Come enjoy a week of art, science, and some outdoor fun as we explore the world of pollinators. We will make art, learn about native prairie habitats and ways to improve pollinator protection and health. Walks to local parks and field trips to a nature center and zoo will also be part of the summer camp fun!

Do you love to learn and play sports? Does running around with friends, new and old, sound fun? Do you like a little competition? This is the camp for you! Come learn, play, and show off your skills this week with a variety of summer sports.

If you love to bring a good story to life like me, then this camp is for you. There is no need to memorize any lines, just bring your personality and quirkiness to any character. Do you like to write in your free time? We’ve all got a story to tell. We’ll learn the tools to tap into your inner writer and build great writing habits in this camp. We'll learn tips that we can start using right away!

Dig into the incredible hidden world below us! Explore the realm of rocks, roots, seeds, tunnels, under-ground critters, and more as you discover the world beneath your feet.

Dust off your dancing shoes and bust out your glitter-gear, because we're making a music video! Campers will plan, design, and film their own original music video. The week will culminate with a virtual video premiere.
