Remote Learning at Alcuin Montessori School
For Primary and Extended Day (Age 3-6)
Alcuin will be offering remote learning for the ‘20-’21 school year for ages 3-6. The program led by Ms. Liesl Goetz (a trained 3-6 Montessori teacher) will feature both group lessons and individual sessions for children.
The primary level will provide a weekly distance learning plan with resources stored in our google drive including suggested variations and extensions of classroom lessons from all curriculum areas and additional activity options. We will also use Seesaw, a collaborative digital learning journal, to post photos, videos, plans, and optional digital activities. In addition to the distance learning plans and use of Seesaw, Zoom sessions will be used to connect with children. A sample Zoom session schedule and brief descriptions are below.
Through lessons of grace and courtesy in the classroom, a student can develop and refine social skills while building self-esteem and independence. The same is true for our digital classroom during Zoom sessions. Please help your child to prepare for the following:

- Whole Class Zoom - An opportunity to gather as a class to encourage social connection and engagement as we begin a daily morning work cycle
- Small Group Zoom Sessions - An opportunity for 1st year and 2nd year students to gather in small groups with others their age for developmentally appropriate lessons and activities
- Recurring Individual Zoom Sessions - An opportunity for the student and teacher, or an adult supporting the child and the teacher, to connect one on one on an agreed upon day and time, every week distance learning might be necessary.
- ED Zoom - An opportunity for Extended Day students (Kindergartners) to gather for developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.

- Students should have teeth and hair brushed
- Students should wear day clothes (not pajamas)
- Students should be in a quiet, well-lit area, sitting vertically (not laying on beds or under covers)
- Students should have water nearby
- Students should refrain from eating
- Students should use the bathroom before joining a Zoom session
- Students should have a parent, caregiver, or sibling nearby to assist with technology as needed
Hours:
- 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. for Primary
- 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for Extended Day (Kindergarten)

The tuition is for the academic school year through the first week in June. The tuition will be prorated from your start date.

Admissions Process:
- Submit your application and $100 fee.
- Zoom family interview.
- Receive contract for the '20-'21 school year.
