Redwood Literacy at Alcuin

Alcuin has expanded its Montessori program to provide students with learning differences the option to receive a specially tailored curriculum through our partnership with Rogers Park-based Redwood Literacy.
This full-day, academic year program, for children in kindergarten through 8th grade, features Alcuin’s long-standing nationally recognized Montessori education, an academic curriculum with Wilson-certified teachers, as well as Alcuin-led enrichment such as art, Spanish, swimming, and theater allowing students to become fully immersed in the Alcuin community.

Program features:
- Reading Intervention - We are certified Dyslexia Practitioners and Wilson Teachers, and have experience supporting learners with varying age-ranges, ability-levels and backgrounds.
- Executive Functioning - Success in school is not only about the intellectual comprehension needed to complete academic work. Thriving students require skills like self-regulation and working memory.
- Writing Coaching - We are experienced in a wide variety of writing-based instruction and offer coaching that provides learners with the specific supports and strategies they need to become effective, confident, and independent written communicators.
A robust intervention curriculum which includes:
- 60 minutes of Wilson Reading System
- 30 minutes of Comprehension Intervention
- 30 minutes of Written Expression Work
- 60 minutes of Math Intervention
- 30 minutes of Assistive Technology and individual intervention

All potential and incoming students must have an individual consultation. The purpose of this is to help assess literacy skills, understand a given diagnosis and/or discuss potential intervention options. The admission process is as follows:

- The RW pipeline for admissions begins with an inquiry call, or email, with Kait Feriante - admissions@redwoodliteracy.com.
- Redwood will schedule a consultation and send reports and recommendations to families.
- If it's a good fit, attend a virtual tour. Learn about Alcuin's Montessori curriculum and programs.
- Submit your application to Alcuin Montessori, indicating your interest in the Redwood Literacy at Alcuin program.
- Complete the parent/child Alcuin interview/visiting day.
